Actress Katie Cassidy has joined The Cybersmile Foundation as an official Ambassador to help the charity promote its support services for victims of online abuse.

Cassidy, star of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and popular CW’s TV series 'Arrow’ will help the charity raise awareness of cyberbullying and share positivity to people who have faced online trolling and digital abuse. The actress joins a host of other Ambassadors announced this year including ‘The Hobbit’ actor Richard Armitage and pop group Fifth Harmony.

Speaking with The Cybersmile Foundation today, Cassidy highlighted how it was important to build a safe environment for children online:

“I am working with Cybersmile beacause we live in an interactive online world. Whether it be for work or play, being connected has become our environment. We all want to feel safe in our environment. It’s important we support those that are bullied online to help us work towards building our children a happier, healthier online environment.”

Earlier this year, The Cybersmile Foundation launched its annual Stop Cyberbullying Day event which drew more than 45 million users online to the campaign, backed by Twitter, MTV and a host of other networks, institutions and public figures.

Katie Cassidy will soon appear in ‘The Wolves at the Door’ opposite Elizabeth Henstridge directed by John R. Leonetti. You can find out more information on The Cybersmile website.
