Hollywood heading to 2011 Cannes Film Festival

This year’s Cannes Film Festival could be the biggest we have seen since 2007, the 60th Anniversary.

With Hollywood represented in a big way, major world premieres, and the stars setting their sites on the red carpet, there is a growing buzz of excitement.

Robert De Niro, who is President of the Jury, has an ‘all-star’ line up including the likes of Jude Law, Uma Thurman, Michel Gondry and Emir Kusturica on the panel.

From Woody Allen’s highly anticipated ‘Midnight In Paris’ to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 4’ starring Johnny Depp, movie goers are certainly excited about the big budget feel to this year’s festival.

However, make a note, that all these premieres are not in the competition line up. One interesting addition to the list is Mel Gibson’s ‘The Beaver’, directed by Jodie Foster, which has received mixed reviews since its world premiere at SXSW.

Will the Cannes Film Festival revive Mel Gibson’s international stardom? With a mixture of European and International features as well as Hollywood, what will critics make out of this year's festival?

The Festival De Cannes starts this Wednesday 11th May.
