Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, and host of the 2013 Academy Awards has announced today via MTVU a national search for college students to present Oscar Statuettes.
The deal goes like this : If you are a college student looking to enter the film industry, and pursue careers in filmmaking, writing, producing, acting or directing, you can get the opportunity to appear live onstage to give Oscar Statuettes to presenters of the telecast.
In addition to this benefit, young students will be flown to Los Angeles where hotel accommodation will provided, all included for the winners of "The Oscar Experience College Search".
Telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron discussed how they wanted to change the scope of the Oscar show:
"In re-imagining what we want the Oscar show to be, we wanted everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film and its legacy, and most importantly, its future."
The competition will help young film students get a place in the spotlight and it is currently featured on the Oscars Facebook page. College students who feel that they're destined for Oscar Glory should complete entry forms and upload a video answering the following question : "How will you contribute to the future of movies?" 6 winners will be chosen after the competition closes on the 13th January.
"For a film student to go to the Oscars and be a part of presenting is a huge break."
