Who should play the new Harry Potter?

J. K Rowling has revealed that she may write an 8th Harry Potter book, but who should replace Daniel Radcliffe in the next movie?

Rowling told Oprah in an interview:

"I could definitely write an eighth, a ninth book... I think I am done, but you never know."

The final two installments of the Harry Potter franchise come out this year and in 2011 after which Daniel Radcliffe could be too old to star in a later sequel. The 7 book series comes to an end on screen with 'The Deathly Hallows', and the cast of the Harry Potter films are set to retire forever, unless Rowling writes her new novels in record speed and time travel is involved.

The casting process for the films had been an immense undertaking to find the right person to play Harry Potter along with all the other beloved characters, and a similar feat will be necessary if a whole new world is envisaged in Rowling's 8th, 9th and perhaps even 10th book. The Harry Potter franchise has been so successful that each film is in the top 100 grossing movies of all time. The 6 previous outings have earned over $700 million each.

Replacing Daniel Radcliffe, who has become an international star, and one of Britain's most respected young actors will be hard to do. Whatever the future story of Harry Potter may be, an open casting call to the world to find the next unknown or established actor could be just around the corner.
