David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ hits theatres today after a lot of internet hype that started out with a ‘leaked’ low quality trailer of the movie.
After ‘The Social Network’, fans of Fincher’s work are set for a treat, as this film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s ‘novel’ blockbuster is revealed. With a dark, ‘Fight Club’ era tone to it, Fincher’s interpretation of Larsson’s style, matched with writing extraordinare Steven Zaillan could be a great atmospheric thrill for audiences just head of the Christmas weekend.
Earlier this month, the New Yorker posted a positive review despite a ‘studio embargo’ on its release. Columbia Pictures fumed at the mistrust but the question remains whether this kind of practice should end.
It’s after all the press that generates buzz around film releases so forcing them to change their editorial calendar doesn’t help studios, nor the outlets that promote them.
