Several members of the cast and crew of 'Selma' have been invited by the President to the White House for a screening of the film ahead of the Oscars.

After 'Selma' received just two nominations, the Academy faced some criticism for "being too white" this year with a lack of cultural diversity in the selection. Despite the debate, the film has been nominated for 'Best Picture' and 'Best Original Song', performed by John Legend and Common.

The invitation was made to a small group of people according to the Washington Post, and it's unclear whether Oprah or other principal cast members will be present, however it is likely that the film's producers and director will be on the list of attendees.

The screening is set to take place this afternoon at a private theatre in the White House. It will not be the first time that the Obamas have hosted filmmakers. In the past screenings for films such as 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom', and 'Monuments Men' have also been held at the White House.
