The BBC reported earlier that St James' Palace had made the announcement officially and that a spokesman for the Duchess's family had relayed their joy at the news.

With the announcement today of Kate Middleton's new baby, the fascination for the British Royal family continues, and with the third in line to the throne, the Royal couple's child will one day be the head of the British Armed forces.
