Preview : Rise of the Planet of the Apes

James Franco stars in 20th Century Fox's 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' which is promising to be one of the most epic CGI movies of the year.

Powered by the team behind Avatar and Lord Of The Rings, 'Rise of the Planet Of The Apes' looks like it has all the right elements to deliver lifelike 'Ape animations' we have never seen before.

So what happens 10 years on from the 2001 hit 'Planet Of The Apes' starring Mark Whalberg? Well, for one thing, technology has changed dramatically, and CGI has a new realm of realism audiences have yet to fully appreciate. While Avatar broke the boundaries in so many ways, it is just scratching the surface of modern CGI today. Rupert Wyatt directs the new pic as opposed to Tim Burton (downgrade or changing gears? We think the later).

Starring James Franco, Tom Felton, Brian Cox and Andy Serkis (Gollum) 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' takes us to present day San Francisco, centring around genetic engineering which takes a turn towards the development of intelligent apes. Of course, because there would be no story without an epic conflict, these new 'supreme beings' go to war with the human race, and one species must outwit the other to survive.

The stakes are high, and the trailer looks sharp. Are you going to check this movie out?
