Emmys announces nominees live

The Emmys have just announced this morning at 5.40am PST the official nominees for this year's awards.

TV programs competing for 'Best Comedy series' this year include 'Girls', 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', '30 Rock', 'Veep', 'Modern Family' and 'The Big Bang Theory.

Zooey Deschanel, Lena Dunham, Tina Fey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are some of the actresses contending for the 'Outstanding Lead Actress In a Comedy Series'.

In the male category John Cryer, Larry David, Louis C.K, Alec Baldiwn and Don Cheadle are nominated for 'Outstanding Lead Actor in a comedy series'.

The top selection for Drama series include : 'Boardwalk Empire', 'Breaking Bad', 'Downton Abbey', 'Mad Men', 'Homeland' and 'Game of Thrones.'

The Emmys in total have 18 listed nomination categories which include 'Variety Series', 'Reality' Shows, 'Miniseries or Movie', and actor, actress performance categories.
