IMAX Corporation and AMC Entertainment have announced a joint revenue sharing partnership which includes the installation of 8 new IMAX theaters.
The new deal includes the conversion of 2 existing AMC IMAX theaters with up to 18 new theaters to be opened across the US.
3 theaters are expected to open by the end of 2012 with up to 18 IMAX theaters installed in new markets as part of the AMC – IMAX deal. The 8 confirmed locations are Charlotte, N.C; Monmouth, New Jersey, Dearborn, Michigan, Niles and Crestwood, Redondo Beach, San Francisco, and Anaheim California.
AMC will now have 138 IMAX Theaters, up from its current total of 125. This number could increase to 148.
