MTV Jersey Shore less liked than Berlusconi in Italy?

Jersey Shore has received a cold reception in Italy, as the media blasts it for importing stereo types of Italians and Americanizing them.

From the onset of MTV's announcement of the shoot, critics were already drafting epic long transcripts to diss the show, and as it airs in Italy, the anti-Show sentiment has sky rocketed.

Just a few weeks ago Italian President Silvio Berlusconi was the centre of all the media's attention for having allegedly paying for sex with a minor. It would seem the crossover between this story and Jersey Shore's portrayal of minors has a sad link.

Does Jersey Shore permanently damage Italy's reputation, or is this a media overkill? Perhaps is because we just love to hate what's already being hated ahead of time.
