Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted breaks new record

DreamWorks Animation's 'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' has beaten all expectations abroad becoming this year's most succesful film in Russia.

The 3rd installment of the Madagascar franchise has earned the equivalent of $48.3 million so far in the Russian market alone. It has broken all records in Russia for an animated feature becoming the highest-grossing animation film in history.

'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' also managed to become the third highest grossing movie of all time after it's release just over a month ago on June 7th in 1830 theatres.

DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg released this statement:

"Russia is one of the most important markets in the world for DreamWorks Animation films and we couldn't be more proud to have achieved such unprecedented box office results there."

So far, the animation hit has grossed $200 milllion at the U.S Box Office and more than double that total ($260 million) abroad. 'Madagascar 3 Europe's Most Wanted' is distributed by Paramount Pictures, and Central Partnership is the film's local distributor in Russia.
