Legendary pulls out of Tom Cruise’s – ‘All You Need is Kill’

According to Deadline, Legendary claim they were never “officially” co-financing the ‘All You Need is Kill’ film, currently filming in London. Apparently Warner Bros only “anticipated the involvement of Legendry”, but it was never actually confirmed.

The news has only come to their attention in the last 24 hours and production is already well underway in the Warner Bros studios in Leavesden, UK.

In a discussion with Deadline, they said,

“Legendary agreed to come on subject to terms. That meant subject to script, budget, and creative mandate,” and they added, “but then Legendary decided it doesn’t fit within their creative mandate or fanboy demographic and they didn’t really have the appetite for this. So they didn’t come to terms with Warner Bros.”

‘All You Need Is Kill’ is directed by Doug Liman and stars include Tom Cruise, Bill Paxton and Emily Blunt. The film is about a soldier fighting in a war with aliens finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle, though he becomes better skilled along the way. The film is based on a Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. It is due to be released in March 2014.
