James Franco has issued a brutal warning to anyone getting involved with the upcoming sequel to 'Spring Breakers'.
The highly successful original led producers to green-lighting a sequel entitled 'Spring Breakers: The Second Coming', however Franco has publicly vented at the idea and has warned anyone that getting involved with it will be a mistake.
Swedish music video director Jonas Akerlund is attached to direct the sequel but that announcement has been dismissed by Franco who issued this statement :
"I want everyone to know that whoever is involved in the sequel is jumping on board a poison ship. It will be a terrible film, with a horrible reason d’être: to make money off someone else’s creativity. Can you imagine someone making the sequel to "Taxi Driver” without Scorcese and DeNiro‘s consents? Insanity!"
The original movie grossed $31.7 million worldwide and starred Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine. According to Franco, he wasn't consulted about the sequel nor was director Harmony Korine part of the decision making.
It remains to be seen which actors will get involved with the second instalment or whether it will face a 'creative boycott'.
