George Lucas is confirmed to be attending the World Premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” after he publicly stated that he had gone through a "divorce" with the film.

The Star Wars creator sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.05bn back in 2012 and was initially brought on as a Creative Consultant for the movie.

Lucas publicly admitted that before he would see the film he would have to take “A very deep breath and be a good person and sit through it.” Watching his franchise take a new direction with Disney was never going to be easy. Having dedicated so much of his life to the Star Wars universe, seeing it for the first time in someone else’s hands was a chance for him to ‘cede’ creative control of his original vision.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that he had enjoyed the screening but didn’t elaborate in further details on what his exact remarks were.

The World Premiere of “Star Wars 7” will take place in Los Angeles, and the European premiere in London. Lucas is attending both premieres with the cast and crew of the new Star Wars film.
