George Clooney to run for President in 2016?

It has been reported that George Clooney may be considering a shift in his career towards politics after he gets married later this year.

The actor is set to marry his fiancée Amal Alamuddin in September and intends to get into the political scene shortly thereafter according to several reports. Alamuddin, aged 36, is a human rights specialist and has represented the likes of Wikileaks' founder Julian Assange in the past.

Clooney is no stranger to politics having already been invited to the White House and supported Barack Obama's Presidential campaign. In addition to these achievements, the actor's work in Darfur along with his activism on the Satellite Sentinel project shows he's no stranger to conflict and events happening around the world.

George Clooney in 'The Ides Of March'

Back in 2011, George Clooney played the role of Governor Mike Morris in 'Ides of March' which he directed. Prior to that, his notable directorial vision in 'Good Night, and Good Luck' saw him playing Fred Friendly, a producer who sided with CBS reporter Ed Murrow to challenge Senator Joe McCarthy's "threat of communist" propaganda in the 50s.

While the actor has denied in the past that he intends to run for public office it is not entirely unrealistic to see him delve into politics given his international experience in world affairs along with a long list of contacts at the top levels of Government.

Is this truly the moment of change for one of the world's most recognizable faces?
