Fincher’s ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ leaked on the web

A 2-minute preview of David Fincher’s latest movie ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ has been leaked on the web.

Starring James Bond actor Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the trailer shows and edgy, gritty, fast paced action montage featuring snow roads, seedy bad guys, and a ‘Fight Club’ style darkness.

David Fincher’s work has been an international success in recent years including his ‘The Social Network’ which made it to this year’s Oscars.

How did the trailer get on the web? Several news agencies have reported that it is likely the leak was intentional as the quality is remarkably good. Allegedly, the copy of the trailer was shot in a European cinema but the MPAA preview targeting a US audience doesn’t add up.

However, this doesn’t answer the question as to why a studio would want to intentionally get audiences to watch a low quality trailer. However, when it comes to online marketing, trailers for movies such as ‘Cloverfield’ proved successful in luring people from the web into theatres.
