LeVar Burton - Reading Rainbow
Star Trek actor LeVar Burton joined the many celebs who turned to social media to vent their anger, frustration, and sorrow following the announcement in Ferguson that police officer Darren Wilson would not face charges after shooting 18 year-old Michael Brown.
On Twitter, Burton, joined in the debate and highlighted a quote from 'To Kill a Mockingbird' illustrating what he felt about the situation:
"I have no words... So I'll borrow these!"
'Star Trek: The Next Generation' co-star Brent Spiner also issued a message to his fans and those that were caught up in the Ferguson riots.
Love and respect to the Brown family #PeaceInFerguson
Cable Networks have been criticized for covering only the violent confrontations following the announcement while many peaceful protests in Michael Brown's honor have taken place across the U.S without major incidents.
President Obama issued a statement to the nation about the Ferguson verdict and acknowledged that there were problems in the system, and change had to happen. While he urged calm and peaceful protests, some have taken to the streets, burning cars, causing property damage and in some cases, assaulting other protesters.
The Ferguson riots have flared up again and it is unclear whether new laws will come into effect following this incident.
