'Ellston Bay’, a highly ambitious piece of short-form filmmaking, is being produced by Fact Not Fiction Films and stars ‘Lord of the Rings’ actor John Rhys-Davies. The film is aimed at being a British short film contender of the highest level.

Film audiences will best know Rhys-Davies for his outstanding roles in blockbuster hits such as Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), as well as the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy where he played the role of Gimli the dwarf. Rhys-Davies stars in short film ‘Ellston Bay’ filming this week in Budleigh Salterton, Devon.

‘Ellston Bay’ Director, Nicholas Eriksson stated:

“'Ellston Bay’ is inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft. The project is to be originated and presented in the most immersive of motion picture film formats, allowing for a highly visceral and moving cinematic experience, the likes of which is rarely experienced by passionate cinephiles.

Thanks to extensive research, testing, and the support of Kodak and the UK film industry - we are very pleased to announce that 'Ellston Bay' is originating entirely in the VistaVision format.

The use of VistaVision is a very rare event, and something that hasn't been seen in contemporary cinema for a considerable time. Christopher Nolan frequently utilises VistaVision cameras for both miniature work and action set pieces to great effect."

Assistant Producer and Production Manager, Beth Moran stated:

“The community of Budleigh Salterton has come together to help with the making of this film and we are very grateful to everyone who are getting involved. We have received so much support from the film industry including companies like Kodak, Camera Revolution, iDailies, Arri Rental, Pro Centre, Procam, Optical Support and many others.”
