In his final months Star trek legend Leonard Nimoy wanted to make something clear to his fans and the world.

After being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Nimoy's life was put in jeopardy from something he did 30 years ago and it was taking its toll on his health. Spock's logic in this case was to share with everyone what he really felt about the one thing that would eventually kill him.

After quitting smoking in 1984, Leonard Nimoy dedicated much of his later life into advocating a smoke free world. The actor was a strong voice encouraging people to tackle their habits because deep down he knew it wasn't worth it and if he could turn back the clock, he would have made a different decision.

In the past several months, Nimoy often tweeted about smoking and how he wish he had never started.

A report released by the FDA in 2012 showed how cigarettes contained over 7000 chemical components including two radioactive uranium isotopes found in nuclear reactors.
