Do you see James Bond as a train-wreck alcoholic?

James Bond character study released

After 50 years on the big screen, Ian Fleming's James Bond, portrayed by the likes of Sean Connery and Daniel Craig consumes more than 4 times the recommended alcohol limit.

According to a new published study that analyzes the alcohol consumption of secret Agent James Bond in Fleming's novels, his weekly consumption of alcohol is equal to 92 units.

From the facts gathered, Bond's regular alcohol consumption would make it impossible for him to carry out his job as a secret agent. He would suffer from a lack of co-ordination, trembling, anxiety, unpredictable mood swings, heart palpitations, and worse, develop serious health issues like depression, liver cirrhosis and heart disease.

With all these symptoms and health problems, how in the world could Bond survive?

50 years of James Bond

His suave, brutish, cunning and seducing character traits would struggle under the weight of the vodka-martinis if he continued to drink at that level.

If we put fact and fiction together, Bond today, wouldn't be able to hold his gun steady, let alone think clearly about his mission. In reality, at 51 years of age (Dr No was released in 1962) he'd only have 5 years left to live.

His transition to film certainly didn't include those facts...
