Dame Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79 leaving legacy behind

Celebrated actress Dame Elizabeth Taylor has died at the age of 79. The two time Oscar winning actress was an inspiration to a generation of cinema fans starring in hit classics such as 'Cleopatra' 'Velvet' and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'

Her career was iconic in the 50s and 60s, and achieved what few have done with such grace.

She was nominated for 4 Oscars in a row between 1958 and 1961 but didn't get a win until 'Butterfield 8'.

The actress won her second Oscar for collaboration with Richard Burton in the 1967 masterpiece 'Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf'.

Recently, the actress was awarded a lifetime achievement Award at the WIN Awards, recognising her incredible career. She had been unable to attend the ceremony but had been touched by the honour.

The epic 1963 'Cleopatra' is considered one of the best films of all time, and was also amongst the biggest budget movies ever made.
