Creed is blowing people away with its brilliance

Nearly 40 years after "Rocky" Sylvester Stallone joins Michael B. Jordan in what could be a career defining comeback in "Creed.”

Since its opening the film has received near universal praise and Stallone has hinted it could be the start of a new era for the Rocky franchise.

Earlier this month Sylvester Stallone returned to the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum on a cold crisp November morning in front of a large crowd and the press to launch the promotion of "Creed." He stood defiantly with that same energy and drive that he instilled back in 76 where he was making his name heard around the world.

In fighting spirit, the actor, along with Philadelphia Mayor and his co-star spoke about the journey of the film, and how the city had played such an important part in the production.

“Creed” opened with a $29m weekend and has grossed over $46m worldwide so far. Directed and written by Ryan Coogler, the film tells the story of Rocky Balboa serving as a trainer to mentor the son of his former rival Apollo Creed (Adonis Johnson) who is played by Michael B. Jordan.

The film has managed to capture the spirit of the original “Rocky” movies and given the franchise new life which seemed an impossible task. Sylvester Stallone’s performance in the movie has also been tipped for an Oscar and we could see the film gaining significant traction in the coming weeks during award season.

So few actors have managed this kind of success and watching Stallone bring back the excitement and the energy of the original movies is nothing short of heroic. Have you seen “Creed” yet?
