NEW YORK, USA - Batman director Christopher Nolan has announced that the latest movie The Dark Knight Rises will be the last.
Nolan, who has helmed the box office smash hits Batman Begins and The Dark Knight said:
I must say that I'm glad. I m very, very glad to be embarking on the last chapter of our Batman saga without any sense of obligation or duty to the studio," he added. "They did very well with 'Inception.' So I'm able to go into finishing our story in a very enthusiastic way. MTV.com
The revelation doesn't come as a bad omen for the last outing, as Nolan has high hopes for the final installment of the new Batman movies. After a rollercoaster ride in the previous sequel and a post-humous Oscar for actor Heath Ledger, fans are anticipating something spectacular.
Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio was seen as iconic, and a Matrix style rebirth of the thriller genre.
Rumours have spread that Nolan will consider including unseen footage of Heath Ledger in the 3rd Batman to have the character of the Joker appear one more time. The other issue is that of continuity from the end of The Dark Knight Rises, which leaves a question of whether the Joker will return.
"The idea is to use these fragments of cut scenes and use CGI to have The Joker appear one last time," a source explained. "Chris wants some continuity between movies and for the franchise to pay tribute to Heath and his portrayal of the Joker." - stuff.co.nz
