‘Moneyball’ tells the story of Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) a man who brought together the Oakland Athletics, a professional baseball team, by using a computer generated analysis in order to pick the right players.
With an all-star cast of character actors Including Johan Hill, Robin Wrights and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and a story with strong messages about changing approach, our first glimpse of ‘Moneyball’ is a good one.
This doesn’t feel like a typical Hollywood movie centered on competitive sports, and having to ‘be the best’ at all times, which we see a lot in recurring themes.
Where ‘Moneyball’ is different, is in the way that its about how a man changed the game from the inside, what he did different to achieve different results, and on a budget. Sometimes in life, people don’t have the means to achieve something because of cost, but there are other ways of doing so. The social message here is powerful, but we have to wait and see how the film plays out with audiences.
‘Moneyball’ heads for theaters in September 2011
