Artivist Film Festival

Artivist Film Festival

LOS ANGELES - In its 6th year, the Artivist International Film Festival will be held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood with the opening night ceremony on 1st December.

The festival runs until 5th December 2009 with the closing night and annual awards ceremony. 45 films that raise awareness for Humanity, Animals and the Environment will be screened. There will also be live music and a café featuring a vegan menu. The Artivist Film Festival is produced by Artivist Collective, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization and has been endorsed by Claes Nobel of the Nobel Prize family, Amnesty International, Global Green, and the United Nations Department of Public Information

Children of War, winner of the Best Feature Film Children's Advocacy Award and supported by the U.S. Institute of Peace will play on Dec. 2, 2009 at 9pm and there will be a Q&A with the Director, Bryan Single

The documentary is immersive. Filmmaker Bryan Single has spent 2 years in Uganda at a Children s Rehabilitation Center documenting the stories of children who had been abducted and forced to become child soldiers as they returned from the battlefield. The film captures their stories as they undergo a process of emotional and spiritual healing. There is no narration and the story is told through the words of the counselors and the children, therefore much of the dialogue is spoken in the Ugandan native language with subtitles.
