Alec Baldwin says goodbye

Alec Baldwin burned more bridges today than at any time in his 30-year career as an actor, deciding to make a goodbye to fame in a 5000-word essay.

In his essay on Vulture, Baldwin attacked numerous media organizations including the Huffington Post where he used to write a blog until recently, and TMZ, naming its founder on several occasions and accusing the outlet of sending a videographer to "ambush him".

"Harvey Levin exists in his own universe. He’s this kind of cretinous barnacle on the press."

Baldwin also highlighted his dislike for CNN's Anderson Cooper and the way he reported about him:

Anderson Cooper, the self-appointed Jack Valenti of gay media culture, suggested I should be “vilified,” in his words. I didn’t feel bad about the incident. He lied about my wife. They say this is what comes with stardom—I don’t agree with you. A journalist isn’t supposed to write a lie about you.

It doesn't end there. Baldwin also writes in-depth on his MSNBC experience and highlights how Rachel Maddow was a "phony".

"Rachel Maddow, the ultimate wonk/dweeb who got a show, polished it, made it her own. She’s talented. The problem with everybody on MSNBC is none of them are funny, although that doesn’t prevent them from trying to be."

The actor also highlights how he paid over $14 million to charity, but that TMZ had altered his relationship with people, and they had started distancing themselves from him after their reports.

He concludes that liberal and conservative media were heading in the same direction and that MSNBC was equivalent to FOX:

"liberals have taken the bait and run in the same direction—and it’s just as corrosive. MSNBC, in its own way, is as full of s***, as redundant and as superfluous, as Fox."

In his closing statements he talks about Shia LaBeouf's recent antics in the spotlight, and admits he feels sorry for him.
