Screenwriters and aspiring authors will be able to enrol in the second Co-Author contest with James Patterson for the chance at getting a book deal and cash prizes.

Available on MasterClass, writers from early next year will be able to submit their ideas for a best-selling mystery or thriller where finalists will be selected to write outlines, and submit a first draft that James Patterson will critique.

Patterson is the author of over 70 best-selling novels and is recognized in The Guinness Book of World Records as the first person to sell 1 million eBooks.

Kecia Bal, who won this year’s contest, was featured on the Today Show and co-wrote her upcoming thriller with Patterson after being selected in the final round. Her novel will be available on Amazon as of next summer.

The Co-Author contest is available to MasterClass students who will be able to submit their pitches from next February. Patterson’s class includes lifetime access to 22 online lessons and shows writers how they can write a bestseller.

Priced at just $90, James Patterson’s MasterClass is one of several popular online courses available on the platform. Kevin Spacey, Christina Aguilera and Dustin Hoffman also teach their own MaterClass.
